My views on IFS
Disclaimer
- This is a stub article for me to fill in future.
- Why do I want to write this article at all?
- I have a personal bone to pick with the IFS people.
- On one hand, I do think they are making a lot of true and important claims about both the world and about human psychology, and I want to commend them for that.
- On the other hand, I think the IFS ideology is poisoning a lot of EA/LW and making them look inward and solve suffering and shit, instead of actually fighting in the arena of reality. People convinced of the possibility of ASI are a scarce resource, and I dearly wish more people were working on more effective plans, literal billions of people will die while you just look inward and fail to solve anything.
