X: Consider making a 30 second video collage for your hinge profile

Background context to be kept in mind for this discussion

• Advice I am a lot more happy to accept nowadays, as compared to some months back.
  • Your hinge profile is not a place for authentic self-expression.
  • You need to selectively represent those parts of you / your life that are most saleable to your target audience (which can be niche but not too niche).
  • You can be authentic on actual dates, but until then no.
  • (Some of) your friends were right lol. Ali Abdaal was right.
  • Just optimise for getting atleast one date a week.
• Metrics
  • Mainstream dating major sales metrics - looks, status, humour/fun
  • Mainstream status hierarchy - corporate job, hobbies, previous partners, etc
  • Minor sales metrics - happiness, safety / relaxedness, protectiveness, conscientiousness, etc. A lot of this becomes more specific to which niche you are targetting tbh
• Metrics I currently satisfy
  • Looks - Average (currently improving, work-in-progress). Getting better / more recent pics can't hurt.
  • Status - I mention college on profile ofcourse. Mentioning travel stuff is proxy for having money. Beyond all that, since I don't have a job (and ASI risk is not high status in mainstream society), I seem to mostly just be relying on stuff like hobbies I am good at, or talks I have given or similar.
  • Humour - I am still mildly averse to putting jokes on my profile. I need to get over this hangup and put some jokes. I am not a funny person but I can still put jokes on the profile
  • Anti-metric - Being (and stating) I am poly is reducing matches noticeably. I think I now have enough empirical evidence for this. But I am still sticking to putting it on the profile because it is important. I need to level up sufficiently on the other metrics to be able to make this anti-metric work.
• My current success metric
  • Getting maybe one date a month I think, on current profile
• My ideal success metric
  • Want more than one date a week, so that I have more selection power

Problem to solve

• I still haven't made the 30 second video. Need to decide what to put.

Potential solutions

• This is a lot of surface area. I can put 10-15 photos or short clips in one 30 second video.
• Put videos / photos not text. This is for both "show dont tell" reasons and because a 2 second short clip conveys more information than 200 wpm * 2s/60s = 7 words of text
• Short answer is yes, get atleast 5 short clips of me doing various hobbies (status metric), get atleast 2 videos of me laughing in different contexts (humour/fun metric), get atleast 2 videos of me giving talks (status metric), maybe 1 video of exercising couldn't hurt (but dont make it the focus as many people post gym videos only) (looks metric), maybe atleast 2 videos of me in formal wear (suit, shirt etc) (looks metric)
• Make sure to get all the clips vetted by a friend. Some of your friends clearly have better judgement on this topic than you. Defer to their judgement. Your previous success so far is also because of friends.
• Don't complain too much about not getting matches until you have implemented this advice. Making this video is not very high priority for me, but whenever I want to invest some serious time here, these are the next steps. I am not promising to act on this advice in next 1 week. (As per heuristic - think about next week or next century, don't think of anything in between.)

Note to self

• I love how structured and confident this note feels. Atleast I now feel like I have a plan and I actually have some evidence to believe it might work.

Update

• Many of these videos I can't just go and get right now. I have to keep taking them as and when they happen. Like, hobby videos have to be when I actually get the opportunity to do various hobbies. This is an annoying amount of effort. I can hire a cameraman (I already know someone) but even so.
• Lol I am now understanding why this entire generation wastes their lives trying to click pics. I mean I get it, but now I get it even more. It is to fuck, lol. People want validation, and this validation is attached to how many people will have sex with them (whether or not they choose to capitalise on this opportunity).
• I am becoming a normie. Fun
