X: [Private]. Y: [Private]. Do not trust your emotions, atleast in the short-term

Main
Do not trust your emotions.
Your emotions are a signal. They are not the ground source of truth. Sometimes the correct move is to suppress and override them anyway.
Your emotions give you information. But sometimes this added information is not enough to push you past the decision boundary. Sometimes the correct move is to accept you will suffer a little, and continue on the same path anyway.
In the long run, I do think emotions are more important. You can't do something long-term unless you genuinely like doing it atleast a little. You can't do something long-term if you genuinely dislike yourself as a result of doing it.
In the short run, however, you can often just ignore the emotions and do the thing anyway.
Run the experiment in the real world. Get feedback from the real world (not from your emotions). Then decide if you want to continue or not.
I thought this is okay for professional life but in personal life atleast I should try to enjoy myself more. But no, maybe I am wrong. Even personal life is full of all sorts of bullshit.
Increase your tolerance for pain. The more you tolerate your pain, the more you might be able to further increase this tolerance. Just don't push yourself to an actual breaking point. Breaking point = actively wanting to commit suicide. You are currently nowhere close to this breaking point. You can push yourself more.

[The actual X Y that prompted this reflection I will be keeping private.] But I think the core lesson might generalise.
Side note
Someone is living rent-free in my head in a way I dislike. [These notes will also be kept private.]
