- The ultimate revenge you can get against someone is in the battleground of ideas.
- Like, sure, you can kill them. You can kill their family, upto three generations. You can shit on their graves and desecrate their homes. You can genocide their entire community. You can torture them before you kill them, for years. Be it via depriving them of sleep or food or warmth or sensory information itself. Torture all of them. Eventually we may even be able to generate edits and mutations of them in a computer and torture all of those beings too.
- But this is not the ultimate revenge. This revenge may not satisfy you.
- The kind of revenge that will actually satisfy me (or so I believe) is in the battleground of ideas. I will destroy the ideology that made you, you, in the first place. If those ideas no longer hold their persuasive force, there will be no you anymore. Your entire ideological group will be wiped off the face of this earth, without a single bullet being fired. I would have permanently gained territory for my side for thousands of years. The culture war fought over minds as territory has been going on for literal thousands of years, and I might actually gain long-lasting territory there.
- Not only will I wipe you out of existence, I will wipe out millions of people over centuries of time in the past and in the future. I will do all of this as retribution for what you did to me. And I will do all this just by writing the right piece of content. What greater revenge could there posibly be?
