- Assume it is a ceiling fan and you are tall enough to reach close to it. The optimal place to keep your hands is just below the fan almost where you can touch it (don't injure yourself, duh), close to the circumference but not outside it, with the palms facing a nearby wall (not facing the centre of the fan, not facing the floor or the ceiling).
