# I respect Daniel Morena-Gama

Main
 - Daniel Morena-Gama threw a Molotov cocktail at Sam Altman's house because of concerns that building ASI will cause human extinction. Many people in EA/LW spaces have publicly called out this behaviour as bad or evil or similar, as a result. Some of them are concerned with PR/reputation and some of them genuinely think such acts are morally wrong.
 - I have previously not met Daniel and know basically nothing about him besides his few blog posts. But given my very limited impression of him, I respect his act. I respect the courage of anyone willing to risk going to prison over this issue.
 - As I have written before in multiple posts, I don't think any one assassination or assassination attempt is likely to fix the problem of ASI risk. I am unsure if I should encourage more such behaviour because I don't know what the effects will be. I think it would be a waste of very scarce talent, if everyone just went and organised a militia and did more failed attacks. I think everyone should try do something more effective if they can.
 - But all this doesn't matter, I can still respect him regardless.
 - If Daniel ever feels alone, or needs help in any other way, he is welcome to reach out to me publicly or in private.
 - I am probably not going to invest more time into this beyond writing this one post (unless someone reaches out to me with something important).
