# Reaction rant to Jacob Falcovich on resentment

Disclaimer
 - personal
 - target audience - strictly myself
 - My mind sim of Jacob says he will probably be fine with me writing this post. If he wants it taken down, I apologise, and will take it down.
 - Jacob Falcovich has joined the mass murderers working at the frontier AI companies, and this does cause me to downweight his advice. I still think it is non-zero useful.

 - I don't actually relate that much to the specific examples of resentment in the post. That okay women have it easier than men or whatever.
 - I have a very symmetric sort of resentment that applies just as strongly to men as to women. I have a burning passionate hatred for society itself. The kind of hatred I could pour into architecting a genocide for 5 years and then at the end be like, these people have not suffered enough, they should suffer **even more.**
 - "Resentment" feels like far too light a word for what I feel. Even "rage" feels too light.
 - I think people like Sam Altman and Peter Thiel can deep down relate to this emotion I feel, atleast a little bit. Just this deep dissatisfaction with reality, but you also know that telling people about this is a move with bad consequences (and is hence a dumb move). And you spend 10 years searching for better moves until you are the guy at the top.
 - It's like, in my head, most of society has already been vaporised. You are all just machines I need to tweak to get the outcomes I want. Your instrumental value to me dominates any terminal moral value you may have. You are sheep ready for the slaughter. You are monkeys to be sold to the highest bidder. You are fuel for the machine.
 - Most of society is already vaporised in my head, actually vaporising them in real life is just implementation of something that has already been done. There is the psychological/spiritual war and then there is the material war on the ground. Once you have won the spiritual war, the rest is just execution. "The hard thing about doing hard things is managing your psychology." - Ben Horowitz

Main 2
 - Coming back to the dating context. Yeah I just don't intellectually respect most people that much. And if I don't respect you, you are just some idiot to have sex with, and I don't care about having sex with you that badly. I do care but it conflicts with the utter contempt I otherwise feel for you, and you can probably sense that.
 - I need to be in an environment with people I actually respect, people with actual life missions. That is when dating is likely to make sense for me. Until then it just feels like whatever, emotionally speaking.
 - I am capable of appreciating parts of people even if I don't intellectually respect them. I have examples of this. But this is like, again, people to practice being with or whatever, none of this feels ideal, even though it might be ... okay.

Main 3
 - I just wish the pain would stop.
