This is more of a fun hobby project than anything with practical application.
Main
Suppose every computer chip and router on Earth had the same govt backdoor. (We have evidence some chips have been backdoored, and we have evidence some routers have been backdoored.)
How would you identify if your computer is transmitting your information over internet, without telling you?
Ideally, you could build a radio yourself, out of electric components. This way you know exactly what it is transmitting. There are repeater stations for ham radio, and ham radio enthusiasts know how to use them.
Due to some historical reasons (worth investigating), sending PGP-encrypted radio messages is illegal, but sending PGP-encrypted messages (on clearnet or Tor) is legal.
Right now I am proposing this as a hobby project. If by some fluke you did actually find a govt backdoor this way, the letter of the law may or may not protect you.
