Disclaimer
Tight opsec among a small group of people just actually makes you miserable over time, or atleast I've so observed among people. It's more bearable if you actually make a group of few hundred (not two or ten) people and isolate from society. That way you get freedom to pick and choose your friends, friends of friends, partner, work collaborators etc, and you're not stuck with the same group of people forever.
Julian Assange had to eventually resort to leaking everything with no redactions, that way he could atleast be somewhat open. If you actually need to do a lot of redaction, you need tighter opsec than even that.
For instance, I could just straightforwardly go work for the indian intelligence agencies if I want to. Apart from not buying into all their nationalist rationalisations, another major problem with this plan is that I know that maintaining tight opsec with these types of people is just going to make me feel bad.
Hmm, maybe this is all the more reason to go work on an automated redaction tool? If you could reduce how many months of time it takes to do redactions well, and the number of people who need to see the sensitive unredacted info, you can also reduce the amount of psychological damage these people need to take.
