I haven't read enough about el salvador politics to comment on whether Bukele's measures were necessary or too authoritarian or whatever.
Lessons I can apply back to my plan:
I do still have some hope that an anti-ASI leader can come to power the fully democratic way in the US, without requiring someone like me to resort to cyberattacks. It doesn't convince me that I shouldn't do cyberattacks, it just nudges me in the direction of not doing it.
I wish I didn't have to independently take decisions of what to redact versus leak. I know I've said this before, but it is worth reiterating. Ideally there should be an anti-ASI leader who takes some of these political decisions, while we focus on the technical stuff of building up cyberattack capabilities. Important note - how to find anti-ASI leaders I trust (lol lmao rofl, it's funny because this is such a lengthy and old topic).
I do still think that if political leaders in US had actual foresight, they should have all spoken to Yudkowsky already and formed an opinion already. Clearly many of them don't have that long-term planning ability.
