Doing so much timepass watching random song videos and fast and furious and whatnot
Everyone trying to offload the dumb work to someone else (or to that dumb kid who takes the work seriously, sometimes this was me but usually not).
Me deleting files from various computers, getting into trouble (again)
Repeating the same dance or yoga or whatever performance over and over again.
That one year I actually had fun playing card games with lots of different groups. Like, the entire ground floor of the building was full of over 10 groups playing card games, because everyone was waiting their turn for performing at the rehearsal.
Oh also generally playing card games sitting in the back of the bus
Paul Graham is right lol, school is prison with extra steps
Some of my best years, wasted.
Like, some of this was fun too. But wohi, it was either fun and games, or it was prison levels of timewaste. Very little actual learning and education happened at school, atleast for me.
I would study the syllabus either first month of the year when I first got purchased new books, or the last month just before the exam. The rest of the year was just timewaste, repeat over and over for atleast a decade.
Way to blackpill someone on the point of life. No wonder I got depressed so easily.
It is not like coming back home was any better, that was prison 2.0. Yet another set of stupid rules to try and bypass / goodhart / whatever. Actually home was even worse, but it depends.
Reminds me of me playing chess with kids recently
Kids are quite smart actually, I can actually have decent conversation with a 10-year old. It is many of the adults who behave like children. Like, average 30 year old normie doesn't actually have that much more raw intelligence than average 10-year old I played chess with, they just have more knowledge and cached heuristics.
Kids are smarter than adults are willing to give them credit for.
(Oh I guess playing chess also selects for smartness. I am aware that some kids are also really dumb.)
My childhood was so hell that the very concept of a good childhood is alien to me
Like, it is literally beyond my imagination. I sometimes wonder, what if I was treated a bit more like an adult, given more autonomy around what to study, and had a few or even one person who actually loved me, how different my childhood would have actually gone?
I don't actually know the answer to that. I am not capable of running that simulation. I don't understand developmental psychology that well. And from first hand experience, I cannot visualise it at all.
